Feliz Año Nuevo,
Well, to be honest, it sounds like your week was pretty boring. Who goes to bed at 10:30 on New Years. Even the oldest people here in Peru stay up to at least 1 in the morning. Usually they are all drunk. New Years was pretty fun. We had to be inside at 9 because it gets pretty crazy at night. I ended up falling asleep at about 10:30 but woke up at 11:30 to see all the fireworks. There were so many. We watched them from our roof. It was really fun.
I had a really good week. We started off the New Year with a baptism. Nancy was baptized on Saturday. We hadn't baptized for three months. It was really nice to baptize. The first baptism of the year shows just how good of a year it is going to be. Our church is now at 10:30 and we were a little worried that Nancy went to the ward at 8:30 but she showed up at 10:40. Just late enough to about give us a heart attack.
Lilian Zavaleta came to church again this week. She also brought her three kids. They all really enjoyed it because at the end of the meetings they were all smiling and talking with all the members. It is good that they are making friends in the church. They are all really close to getting baptized. It would be the best to baptize all of them together as a family. We are working toward getting them baptized January 16. I think we will make. They just don't quite feel ready to make that kind of commitment. I have heard that before so I know exactly what I am going to say. Hopefully everything works out and they get baptized in a couple of weeks.
Nothing really changed with transfers this week. I will be finishing Elder SanJuan's training and will be here in Progreso until February. I am excited to be able to stay because I will now be able to reap all the fruits that I have planted here. We have a lot of potential and it looks like we will have a really succesfull January. The only thing that changed is that I now have a new district leader. It is a new district leader and I feel like I am training him on what to do. It will be good though and the Progreso ward will finally progress.
We did a little service this week. We stripped the paint off of The Zavaleta's house. They are preparing for their daughters quinceñera party. They are super busy preparing for the party but they also find time to listen to us and come to church.
That is about my whole week. It was succesfull even though it was New Years. I can't believe it is already 2016 and that my black year has ended. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time.
Love,
Elder Isaacson
