Hola mi familia,
You are right, I have survived one week in the CCM. I´m really happy I passed my A.P. test but I felt like I should have gotten a better score .Oh well, I still get the credit. I actually knew who had advanced in the World Cup because I asked our ´´investigator´´ who was still in it. I wish I could get an ipad in my mission because I am lugging around my bag that is full with gospel training supplies and another bag they gave us that is completely full of Spanish study guides. The missionaries here all like to play soccer but none of them are very good besides one kid in my district who has a scholarship for soccer to UVU. They told me about the mission soccer tournament in Peru and I am very excited for it.
The first night seemed kind of rough because I felt so alone. I am in one of the houses that has about five bedrooms. I share my room with my companion, Elder Connolly from Arizona, Elder Toth from Washington, and Elder Speed from Texas. To be honest, my companion kind of annoys me. He said his favorite thing to do before coming on a mission was watching movies and that his greatest accomplishment was watching all 6 Star Wars in 2 days. Oh well, it´s only six weeks. I really like my district, we seem to get along really well. Sometimes though we get a little distracted after studying for a long time and its not very productive. The food here is really good. It is Mexican food about half the time and the rest is American. I am still getting used to the breakfast here though. Apparently in Mexico, their breakfast is more similar to our lunch, it just seems weird eating nachos for breakfast. No Mom, I haven´t heard gunshots yet. I have heard a lot of police sirens though. I have heard either a cannon or really loud fireworks though. Apparently a church in the town I am in likes to set off whatever it is at night and it just about shakes you right out of bed. The apartment is pretty nice although it is a little crowded. The weather here is really nice until five o´clock. It has rained every day I have been here but only after five and it stops by nine. One of my favorite things at the CCM is the view. We are in a little valley with three big mountains around us. The houses just go straight up the side of the mountain and it looks really cool. Maybe you could see it from google earth.
I got an email from Colten today just asking how I was doing. I am very excited to write back to him. Could you send me all of my friends mailing addresses because it is hard to have time to email all of them. Also most of my last email was copied and pasted. I don't know why they said to send packages. I saw an Elder eating krispie kreme doughnuts that his parents had sent him and I was so jealous. That is one thing I miss most, all the yummy treats I could go eat whenever I wanted.
Sunday was Fast Sunday and man was it rough. They didn't even open the comedor for dinner or breakfast. I think that might have been the longest I have ever fasted before. Even though I couldn´t understand all of the testimonies I could still feel the spirit. The spirit is so strong here. I have felt it so many times in just one week. Hopefully it stays like that.
On Friday, they made us prepare our first lesson and then they made us go give it, in SPANISH!!! The first lesson was really rough and all over the place because I was trying to use the words I knew. Saturday and Monday´s lesson went a lot better. Our investigator is Guillermo. Apparently he is going to become our afternoon teacher. I am very excited for this because I really like him. I can´t believe I have been able to learn so much Spanish in just one week. They make us study so much. I have no time for anything else. I am so mentally exhausted. I feel like I just took the ACT 10 times in a row and then wasn´t allowed to go to bed for a week. One Elder put it this way, the CCM is either spirit paradise or spirit prison. Sometimes being here is so amazing and then other times I would just love to get out of here. It does feel like a prison though because of the big fence surrounding the edge of the CCM and the razor wire on top of the fence. I know it is to keep people out but sometimes it feels like its there to keep missionaries in. Oh, that reminds me, I will only get to go to the temple visitors center because part of the temple is being remodeled. I really wanted to be able to do a session here in Mexico. At least I get to go to the visitors center though and get out of the CCM for a day. I would like to get out of here and into Peru but I still have a lot to learn before I can do that. Keep me updated about the things of the world, especially soccer, and tell me about camping and the Jeffs-pedition. It would not be an Isaacson camp out without one. I think I might hand write some letters to you guys just so I can hear from you more often and I would like to be able to test how fast the mail is.
Love and miss you,
Elder Isaacson
